MOODY + INTIMATE THORNEWOOD CASTLE WEDDING
THORNEWOOD CASTLE
LAKEWOOD, WASHINGTON

Hi! I'm Natasha! Your Seattle elopement photographer, dog petter and donut eater. While photography is my first love, connecting with people is my love language. You'll find me lovin' on the big moments, the quiet moments, the silly moments – but especially the in between moments. The moments that are unadulterated and unfiltered. The ones where you are the real you. Here on the blog you'll find all of my favorite tips, tricks and resources for planning a wedding that's all about those moments.

THE COUPLE
Lauren and Gus. Two of the most gentle souls. Self proclaimed introverts that met on a dating app (who even meets in real life anymore, honestly?), that fell deeply in love right on their first date, and never looked back. Right from day one Lauren adopted Gus's cat, the got their beloved (and extremely sassy) dog, Dot, and the rest is history.
As a software engineers and a UX and visual designer, they blend the perfect mix of analytical and creative as passionate DIY-ers. So wedding planning was a super fun project to collab on right off the bat!
THE VISION
From our very first Zoom call, Lauren and Gus's vision was clear. They wanted something unique for their intimate Thornewood Castle wedding. A late September wedding in Seattle always has the gamble of having gloomy weather, but they leaned right into the moody vibes and it couldn't have been more perfect.
In Lauren's own words "I felt so connected to your photos because they felt candid, yet strikingly beautiful. I have some background in photography and have been looking for someone to capture our wedding and engagement in a way that doesn’t feel overly filtered. I love that your photos use stylistic adjustment in a way that enhances rather than obscures the emotion in the moment."
I meannnnn, swoon? But knowing that they resonated with both the creative and the emotional aspects of their photos, helped me understand exactly how we could collaborate on their Thornewood Castle wedding in so many different ways!
Through out the planning process we shared Pinterest boards, talked color palettes and textures, chatted about things they were nervous or excited about, about specific places and moments they wanted to include in their photos. And when wedding day came around, it couldn't have gone anymore perfectly.
THEIR INTIMATE THORNEWOOD CASTLE WEDDING
So on a rainy September afternoon, Lauren and Gus's Thornewood Castle wedding was small and intimate. Surrounded by 40 people, all of their closest family and friends, they said their I do's quietly and sweetly. Adding a piece of their own history to the centuries of memories that had taken place at Thornewood (a 500 year old Tudor Gothic estate that was shipped over from England! You can read more about it here!)
