FOR YOUR BELLINGHAM
Hi! I'm Natasha! Your elopement photographer, dog petter and donut eater. While photography is my first love, connecting with people is my love language. You'll find me lovin' on the big moments, the quiet moments, the silly moments – but especially the in between moments. The moments that are unadulterated and unfiltered. The ones where you are the real you. Here on the blog you'll find all of my favorite tips, tricks and resources for planning an elopement that's all about those moments.
So you wanna elope near Bellingham, WA but aren't sure where to stay? No problem! Bellingham is an adorable little town 2 hours north of Seattle and is a great place to be your home base or your getaway for your Washington elopement. And I just so happen to live there! With tons of great food, it's close proximity to Mount Baker and the Mount Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest, whale watching, an incredible local farmer's market, and plenty of wonderful local wedding vendors it really has everything you could ever need for an amazing elopement! But let's take a look at some of the best places to stay for your Bellingham elopement.
The BEST Airbnb's for Your
Creek House at Birch Bay
Birch Bay, WA
I gotta say, I'm obsessed this Creek House because Birch Bay is the CUTEST little beach town just north of Bellingham, and in the summer Brian and I visit nearly every day! The streets are filled with live music, people cruising around in their classic cars, the salty smell of the bay and the sweet smell of waffle cones and fudge from The C Shop (the most adorable and heavenly smelling local candy shop) fill their air. It's the perfect place for a lovely beach to stroll with your dog, or head down to Birch Bay State Park just a few minutes down the road for some photos! Plus, I know some pretty sweet secret wildflower meadows nearby with a view of Mount Baker we can go for your intimate ceremony or your photo session. And afterwards, Creek House is the perfect spot to curl up by the fire for an evening s'more nightcap.
The Blackbird Lodge
If you're looking for a stunning midcentury/Scandinavian modern home to use as your home base, this is your place. Only 5 miles to downtown Bellingham, with 3 comfortable and spacious bedrooms for you and your guests, this could be a great option for those that want to include some friends and family in their big day but still want it to feel luxurious. Plus, who doesn't want to end the night in the hot tub?
I especially love this place for the huge windows too. As a photographer, it's a dream having such big windows to let in all of the natural light and it's makes such a big difference in your photos!
Bellingham Treehouse w/ Hot Tub + Hot Tub
Looking for something extra unique for your Bellingham elopement? This funky treehouse has not only a fantastic view, but a waterfall and hot tub right on the property! Unfortunately pets can't join you at this particular spot, but if you're looking for a relaxing getaway among the trees, this one's for you. You'll be able to feel the trees gently swaying, and you can even schedule a massage during your stay (the owner is a licensed massage therapist, how cool?).
Adventure Cabin in the Secret Garden
If you love gardens as much as I do but still want to be close to town to grab dinner after your Bellingham elopement, this little adventure cabin is your place. 7 minutes to downtown Bellingham, it sits on 5 acres surrounded by towering spruce trees and nestled into gigantic sword ferns, with a tranquil creek. You'll even have access to a cedar sauna too! Ultimate relaxation, while still being close to all of the essentials. Plus, the clean lines and simple interior design will make for some amazing photos!
Bellingham Meadow House
Lake Samish, WA
A private sunlit garden tucked away in a canopy of beautiful evergreens, it sounds like a dream. Simple, beautiful, modern, bright and airy. This place just exudes calm and romantic relaxation for your perfect elopement day! You'll be completely alone and tucked away in this stunning guest house that boasts everything from yet another hot tub, indoor-outdoor seamless living space (okay, luxury?), a private master patio, AND a main patio. It's truly perfect. And was all built from wood that was harvested from the property. For the intentional, modern, thoughtfully romantic couple, this is for you.
Rustic 70's A-frame with a Cozy Modern Interior
Rustic. 70's. A-frame. Need I say more? This adorable modern cabin is actually part of the same community as the Snowline Cabin above, but has a wonderful cozy wood interior. Located in Deming, WA you'll be just a stones throw away from Mount Baker and all of the amazing outdoor activities it has to offer! So whether you're planning a sunrise Artist Point elopement or a sunset alpine lake session, this place is your perfect little basecamp for adventure. If you're looking to get away from it all for a romantic few days alone, you can't go wrong here.
Chuckanut Forest Studio
Just a ten minute drive from Bellingham, the Chuckanut Forest studio is exactly what it sounds like! A breathtaking modern artist's studio tucked away in the forest that has been handmade and locally sourced over the year! You'll most likely take the lovely Chuckanut Drive to arrive here, enjoying views of Chuckanut Bay. But what I love most about this particular stay is that the property owners share how much they value connection, beauty, and the joy of real things. The space was designed for calmness and beauty, for those that appreciate art and nature, for the sweetness of quiet. Things that are all so integral to elopement days for so many of the couples I work with. It's something I personally feel so deeply that I couldn't help but smile when I read their listing. Plus, who doesn't love yet another listing with a hot tub?
