The most absolute moody nostalgic engagement session of my dreams. When Grace suggested that her and Eric do their Port Angeles engagement session at her family cabin, my initial expectations were something along the lines of rustic log cabin, plaid, a little dusty. Maybe something a little on the 1980's camp side? Never in a million years did I expect this spectacular property, scattered with funky handmade cabins built by a local architecture class's students. Driving up the long steep dirt driveway lined by tall ferns, as soon as I got a glimpse of the cabin I literally think I gasped out loud. How often do you get to shoot at a circular funky 1960's-70's eclectic cabin? Needless to say, this sweet romantic session just makes my soul so warm and happy.

I know I say this about all of my couples, but from the second we met, Grace and Eric exuded so much welcoming kindness. We sipped drinks, we flicked through some vinyl, we sat in the dusty corners chatting about the memories they had made here. As we strolled through the property, passing huge cedars and spruces, we talked about the sweetness of handmade things and comfy pants. Said hello to some baby deer as the sun slipped behind the trees. I'm ordinarily my own worst enemy and am always criticizing myself about how I could have done better, how I would have done things differently if I could do it all over. But it's shoots like this that leave me driving home with the rare and fleeting feeling that we really created something special together.
