PLANNING A MT. RAINIER ENGAGEMENT

It's not secret that Mt. Rainier National Park is one of the most magnificent places in the whole country (maybe the world? Idk, maybe I'm getting ahead of myself, but it's pretty damn breath taking). And a Mt. Rainier engagement?! Well it doesn't get much better than that. You'll have access to everything from alpine lakes to lush forests, epic views of snow capped Mt. Rainier herself and the Cascade Range, wildflowers carpeting the trails in the summer, glowing fall leaves, a winter wonderland when it gets cold. No matter what time of year you can't go wrong.

Mt. Rainier is the most popular national park in Washington, so with that comes crowds. Especially during high season when the wildflowers are blooming. To avoid some of the crowds here are our best tips to getting some alone time in the park.

  • Do your engagement photos at sunrise, the park really starts filling up around 9-10am so hitting up some of the most beautiful spots at sunrise not only give you some of the most beautiful light, but most people haven't arrived yet.
  • Visit on a weekday! Usually a Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday is a good bet for avoiding some of the crowds
  • Take some of the more off the beaten path trails! Mt. Rainier National Park has hundreds of trails for every activity level. Not sure which ones to choose? No prob! We have plenty of recommendations for some beautiful less popular trails.
