HOW TO GET MARRIED AT KITSAP MEMORIAL STATE PARK: YOUR CHECKLIST

Alright, so let's get right down to business. You're planning on having the most amazing wedding ever at Kitsap Memorial State Park, but where do you start? Which pieces should you work on first? Here's your checklist to get you on your way!

  1. Make your Kitsap Memorial State Park wedding reservation (you can make your reservation up to 9 months in advance, and it's COMPETITIVE, so make sure you call as early as you can the DAY it's 9 months out)
  2. Hire your Washington wedding and elopement photographer (that's us! 😉)
  3. Start conceptualizing what you want your wedding to look and feel like (what sorts of colors, florals, feelings do you want to include in your day)
  4. Hire the rest of your badass vendor team over the next few months (florist, officiant, caterer, dj, coordinator, stylist, hair and makeup, etc.)
  5. Book your stay!

FEES + PERMITS

Kitsap Memorial is well know for being a wedding hotspot not just because of it's absolutely stunning location, but because it's public space! The park is run by the Washington State Parks Department, and they rent the Log Hall Heritage Area for all sorts of events like weddings, birthdays, graduations, you name it!

Friday-Sunday & Holidays: $1870.89 per day
Thursdays & Mondays: $1055.83 per day

All vehicles must display a Discover Pass or day pass. A Parkeon station (a kiosk to purchase your passes on site) is available to purchase day-use passes.

To reserve the space you'll need to call (888) CAMPOUT or (888) 226-7689 and speak to a park official. You can reserve up to nine months in advance of your arrival date.

Photographer Permit
Because Kitsap Memorial is a state park, you may need to get a Photography Permit in addition to making your reservation for the space. This permit costs $100. Make sure to ask your park official handling your reservation if this is something you may need!

Thinking of hiring us as your wedding photographers? We have an annual Washington State Parks permit so you don't have to worry about it!

SAMPLE TIMELINES

While every wedding photography timeline looks different, here are a few examples of what your day-of timeline could look like. These timelines are created with a mid-summer date in mind where the sunset is pretty late in the day (in July, sunset here is right around 9pm, with some beautiful soft light until 9:30pm! Wild!)

SAMPLE MID-SUMMER TIMELINE WITH A FIRST LOOK

1:30pm - Your photographers arrive and start your getting ready photos
***photos of everyone hanging out while you get ready, your invitations, florals, rings, shoes, dress or suit, etc.
2:45pm - First look and/or private vows
3:00pm - Portraits of you two (probably 15-20sh minutes)
***buffer time - we like to build in points throughout your day so you have some down time to relax or extra time in case something gets knocked off course
3:30pm - Bridal party and family photos
4:00pm - Guests arrive
4:30pm - Ceremony begins
5:00pm - Ceremony ends / cocktail hour begins
5:30pm - Reception starts
***dinner/ speeches / dancing / party!
9:00pm - Sneak off for sunset photos
***sunset at 9:00pm

9:30pm - Your photographers give you the biggest hugs and say their goodbyes! (Typically we don't start until the very end of the night so usually an hour or so before your reception ends is a solid amount of time for some amazing reception photos before you end up a sweaty mess from all that partying!)

SAMPLE MID-SUMMER TIMELINE WITHOUT A FIRST LOOK

1:30pm - Your photographers arrive and start your getting ready photos
3:00pm - Separate Bridal Party Photos
3:30pm - Separate Family Photos

4:00pm - Guests arrive
4:30pm - Ceremony begins
5:00pm - Ceremony ends / cocktail hour begins
5:30pm - Reception starts
***dinner/ speeches / dancing / party!

THE BEST PLACES FOR PHOTOS AT KITSAP MEMORIAL STATE PARK

One of the best parts of getting married at Kitsap Memorial State Park is that there are so many wonderful places for your couples portraits that are really easily accessible and just a quick walk from the event space! Just a few short steps down some stairs behind the event hall you'll find a little ramp that takes you right down to a small sandy/rock beach with beautiful views of the Olympic Mountains on a clear day. You'll see critters like all sorts of sea birds and seals, be able to dip your toes in the Puget Sound, and watch one of the most beautiful sunsets on your wedding day.

Our second favorite spot is actually right where ceremonies often take place here, beneath the towering trees. At sunset the light filters through the leaves creating the most spectacular golden hour glow in the quiet forest. And the best part is, you're just a few steps away from you guys so you can get right back to partying!
