FILMING A DOCUMENTARY DURING A REAL OLYMPIC NATIONAL PARK ELOPEMENT

seattle wedding photographer

Hi! I'm Natasha! Your Olympic National Park elopement photographer, dog petter and donut eater. While photography is my first love, connecting with people is my love language. You'll find me lovin' on the big moments, the quiet moments, the silly moments – but especially the in between moments. The moments that are unadulterated and unfiltered. The ones where you are the real you. Here on the blog you'll find all of my favorite tips, tricks and resources for planning an elopement that's all about those moments.

THE COUPLE

Two people. Two dogs. An officiant. A whole documentary crew. And so much love stuffed into one day that it's hard to believe that Briana and Kyle's Glines Canyon Dam elopement was even real. But let's not get ahead of ourselves, and let's get to know them a little bit first, shall we? Briana and Kyle are dog loving, hiking, full time road lifers, with a love for Spongebob on Saturday mornings, who never take themselves too seriously. Pretty damn cool people if you ask us.

When they first reached out to us to shoot their elopement, the thing that we talked about that they valued the most was having an elopement day that was all about them, with none of the unnecessary fluff. A day that included their dogs, Bagel and Kora, included mountain views, and a visit to the place that they had one of their very first dates, Glines Canyon Dam, a special and little known part of Olympic National Park that you have to hike an easy 3.5 miles each way to get to. A spot where we were almost guaranteed to have completely to ourselves, completely private, with some cool stops in abandoned areas of the park along the way! And that's exactly what their day was. Except there was one added touch that made this Glines Canyon Dam elopement extraordinarily unique....

WHAT MADE THIS DAY SPECIAL

Not only did Briana and Kyle really elope on this day, but we had a documentary crew with us filming the whole thing for a movie! Filmmaker Nico Raineau, director and wedding officiant himself, was in the midst of creating a documentary following officiants and what it's like to be such a unique vendor in the wedding industry, highlighting the career of the incredible Officiant Jimmie.

And I know what you're probably thinking...that sounds like a total nightmare if you're someone who doesn't want a lot of attention on you, which is probably why you're eloping in the first place. But for Briana and Kyle who are self proclaimed introverts, it ended up being the most magical day with the best film crew and vendor team out there. We belly laughed for hours, snacked on chocolate chip cookies, did a group ceremonial shot with Jimmie (his signature move for ceremonies), gave the dogs so many treats, talked for hours and hours (so much so that we ended up staying for more than an hour longer than we initially planned to because none of us wanted to say goodbye to each other). We ended the night full of cupcakes and tight hugs and so many good feels.
